Vampirism had Cara Brahnam turning tail and leaving behind her life in Pleasant. Now, ten years later, she's back as lead detective and wants to see the person responsible for draining the women of Lane County brought to justice, no matter what deal the gang of miscreants has struck with the sheriff. Or the fact that her number one suspect is the sole reason she fled in the first place.

Now someone has targeted Cara as the next victim and Kane must join in the hunt to find the ancient vampire that wants her dead.

Book Trailer

This book was a bit different from other vampire books I have read. The biker element had been done but NOT in THIS way! The Son's of Sangue are the embodiment of biker clubs. They take care of their own and and their territory. They are of the "love them and leave them, no woman is special" mentality. They have their own laws and their own way of dealing with rule and lawbreakers. Add in the vampiric element and you have an even stronger, tougher biker, who loves harder and deeper when he allows himself to fall. If someone threatens that love all hell is going to break loose.

That said we begin the book with the prologue introducing us to our characters 10 years ago when Cara Brahnam was a teen ready to go to college. The meeting left an impression on both of them!

Kane 'Viper' Tepes, the great grandson of Vlad III,  is the President of the Son's of Sangue MC. He rules the club with a strong hand and those who break their laws and puts their coven at risk of discovery is dealt with swiftly. He and the club keeps their business pretty clean, they enjoy staying on the right side of the law, meaning they have a deal going with the Sheriff. When women are being murdered in Pleasant,Viper becomes number 1 suspect, and the cop who is trying to pin the murders on him is none other than Clara Brahnam. The last time he seen her was 10 years before and she has been a burn in his pants since. He wants the little cop, always has. He just isn't sure he can behave himself as their laws dictate when he is with her.

Clara Brahnam last seen Viper with his pants down feeding on a willing donor. She has been in denial that vampires are real ever since and refuses to believe what she saw was real. She has always been hot for Viper even when he became her nightmare she still wanted him. Now that she is having to keep coming into contact with him it is becoming combustible. She is trying to figure out what happened to these dead women and who killed them. She isn't as sure as her partner is that Viper killed them.

When the actual murderer targets Clara, personal beliefs and feelings are put to the test.

I am completely hooked on Patricia A Rasey!! This book solidified my new found love of her writing! I can't get enough of the Sons of Sangue. It will be so hard waiting for the next installments of this series. The story is fresh and hot. I never got tired of reading. My only problem with the book was having to put it down! This is a definite read for any one who loves vampires.  These guys are far from our usual vampire reads. They aren't suave 'know exactly what to say ' men. They are foul mouthed, rude, pushy and they sure as heck don't sparkle in the sunlight!! Fantastic!!

Claiming Ecstacy by Madeline Pryce

Ellora;s Cave

Book Description

Jolie Dupree is prophesied to bring an end to the deadly war waging between the vampires and the Seelie court. Groomed from birth by a vicious mother, Jolie knows her future can only end in blood--and the murder of the one man she can't resist. Consumed with guilt, Jolie can't fight the lure of Nicolas Larkin, the vampire king. She returns to him over and over, every caress of pain and every stroke of pleasure drawing her deeper into the darkness. She must decide between the concrete and the chaos, the light and the dark, for her choice will tip the scales between good and evil, and quite possibly cost Jolie her soul.

OMGosh!! This book starts off hard core hot and steamy and doesn't stop until you put it down panting looking for an iceberg to cool you off! Madeline Pryce has a way of writing that puts you in the book and boy what a wonderfully naughty place to be! A hot vampire king and his Seelie lover fighting for dominance and much much more.

Jolie Dupree is the Seelie courts princess, sweet deal right? Not really. She has been told since birth she is to be given to a vampire king who she must kill. Her mother is truly evil and vicious in making sure she does what she wants her to. When the day comes and Jolie must choose to do as her mother asks it is a fight on many levels and in many ways, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Will she be able to kill him or will she be the one to die, because one of them has to.

Nicolas Larkin the vampire king seduced Jolie at the age of 18, quietly staking his claim. She has always been his and he will keep what is his, but who will win in the game of wills? He relies on his cunning and skill to be the victor and make sure he succeeds and he gets to keep his Jolie.

With so many things against them the battle lines are drawn but which side is Jolie on and what will happen after her and Nicolas's struggle and what about her mother's army? This book is steamy, it is dark, and it is so fantastic it really makes me hungry to know more about them and what is going to happen to them now.

Between Before and After by Amanda Dick Cover Reveal!!

Book Description

Danny Morris left behind a gun, a tonne of questions and a big hole in the lives of those he loved. What he didn’t leave was a suicide note.
That was three years ago and on the anniversary of his death, his friends mark his passing by gathering at his parents’ beach house in New Zealand's gorgeous Marlborough Sounds. Danny’s decision may have seemed like the easy way out for him, but there is no doubt about the wreckage he left behind.
Danny's girlfriend, Kate, holds onto his memory by continuing to live in the house they shared. Desperate to move on with her life, the need to understand why he shut her out holds her back. Her blossoming feelings for Danny’s best friend, Finn, only complicate matters.
Finding Danny’s body has impacted on Max in ways no one could ever have imagined. Withdrawing from his high-flying lifestyle, he has carved out a much simpler life, moving from town to town as he tries to run from the nightmares he refuses to talk about. A new development, self-medicating with alcohol has him sailing dangerously close to the edge.
Finn is finally ready to admit how he feels about Kate, but the ghost of her relationship with Danny continues to haunt them both. Desperately trying to save Max from himself dredges up long-buried anger and frustration at the situation they now find themselves in.
Friendship. The word itself conjures up images of trust and love. But what happens when that trust is broken and that love is thrown back in your face?
Five friends. Three days. One shocking discovery that will shake them to the very core.
This year, everything will change.

Prologue

The single gunshot sounded like a firecracker. Short, sharp, loud. What followed was a buzzing echo, a kind of post-event hum that seemed to fill the air for several seconds, before it too dwindled away to nothing.
The sound was completely out of place in the suburban Auckland street. Two young boys playing in the back yard of the house across the road stopped in their tracks, their smiles frozen.
“Double happys,” one said to the other, his grin widening. “Lucky. It’s not Guy Fawkes for ages yet.”
“Do you think that was Caleb’s house? We should go and see – he might have more!”
The twinkle in his eye told of the hunt for mischief, but the other boy – more sensible - shook his head.
“Mum said we weren’t allowed to go over there today.”
Deflated, his friend backed down. They resumed their play, chasing each other through the sprinkler that fanned cool water out in a wide arc across the lawn.
Inside, the boy’s mother stopped loading up the dishwasher and peered out the kitchen window. Seeing nothing out of place, she quickly dismissed it.
The birdsong resumed and the sun continued to shine. Summer afternoons had a habit of minimalising things. Nothing could be wrong on a day like this, surely?
Two doors down from the white Victorian villa with the overgrown garden and rickety white picket fence, more children played on the grass verge. They chased each other on their bikes, up and down the footpath, dodging the mature trees planted along the berm. A young couple walked down the opposite side of the street, hand in hand, enjoying the sunshine. A car crawled slowly past before stopping at the intersection on the corner. It waited for a break in the traffic, indicator blinking lazily.
At number forty- two, time had stopped. The large, rented villa with the veranda that wrapped itself around the front and one side of the house, looked just the same as always. Except inside, Danny Morris lay on the floor in the living room. His eyes were wide open but devoid of life, and a pool of dark, sticky blood seeped through the worn carpet beneath his head. A gun lay on the floor beside him, his open hand reaching for it, even in death, as if it would solve all his problems.
The decision to end his own life hadn’t been made lightly. The preceding months had seen him spiral down into a depression that he was ill-equipped to handle. A dark fog had descended over him, swallowing him up. Every breath felt as if he was inhaling sand. He was suffocating. He had withdrawn from his friends and family, both afraid they could see it, and convinced they were unable to help him fight it. No one could help him. The darkness that crawled over his soul and dug its hooks into his heart would not release him. He could feel it gaining power. He craved an end to the hopelessness.
The gun had only been in his possession for a couple of days, hidden from sight but ever-present in his mind. He had mulled over his options carefully. Pills were too slow – it was too risky, someone might find him. Slicing his wrists was out for the same reason, as was hanging himself or gassing himself in his car. He didn’t want to have to explain this to anyone – he didn’t think he was capable of it. Explaining required a basic understanding, and he didn’t have that. What he did have was an overwhelming desire for the pain to end.
He had chosen a gun as his weapon of choice for the simple reason that once he pulled that trigger, it was done. There was no changing his mind, no last-minute rescue, no way of stopping the train once it had left the station. No way back.
Quick, painless, final. The perfect solution.
And yet, for all his meticulous planning, he could not have foreseen the one thing that had been completely out of his control. As his finger was poised on the trigger, sweaty and trembling, a face appeared at the window. In that split second between the trigger being fully depressed and the bullet entering his body, their eyes met.
And then it was over.

Grace's Trailer

Ian's Trailer

This is such an amazing and highly emotional love story. What Marisa Oldham has done with this is phenomenal. When I read her book I can't tell you how many times I found myself smiling at the pages, clutching my reader tight as the hardships became harder, and how my chest constricted when things just seemed impossible. It was just so real and beautifully written.

We begin this story with Grace Hathaway in high school. She is shy, quiet and enjoys working on her art. Her sister Michelle is the loud flamboyant one. They lost their parents 7 years before and are being raised by their older brother James, who is a truck driver to support them. The day Grace sees Ian her world stood still. He wasn't like any boy she has ever seen. He dressed different, he looked different with his long red hair and jewelry, and he acted different. He had her attention from the first moment. Her heart wasn't far behind.

Ian Taylor dreaded starting a new school. All he wanted was getting to LA and starting up his band with his best bud Jaden. When he walked into math class and seen Grace he couldn't believe his eyes. When she talked to him he was shocked that she would. When she went out with him she made his world light up. Ian's family isn't the loving kind like Grace's and when his family problems become worse they open their house and arms to him, but things just aren't that simple.

Their love affair starts off as a sweet teen love and morphs into long lasting love of adults. The ease of teenage romance wears off and things become real for them. Then the hardships kick in and puts a true test to the strength of their love. Will it survive and will it last?

This book was emotionally wrenching and really pulls at you. You get angry, you get furious and you definitely feel sad, but you also feel and see the love between Marisa's characters and you see the confusion her characters are experiencing because of the various hurdles. This is a book you don't want to miss!! The ending is in a word ... POWERFUL!!! I am so glad I had the opportunity to read it and will definitely be in my to be read again list!

Twisted by Brittany Hawes

Book Description

Street-smart and sassy Lola Phillips has never had it easy. An orphan at the age of eight and a high school dropout at the age of 16, Lola’s only concerns in life are making it to the next day while living on Skid Row and seeking out her missing parents. When a mysterious man approaches her with a tempting offer to help her find out what happened to her parents, she agrees. Her agreement: To take on the name of Harlot Rue and become his personal agent and assassin. Easy, right? Lola takes her new job and is propelled into a world she had no idea existed underground. Welcome to H Corporation, a secret organization burrowed miles beneath the earth, hidden away from the rest of the world. Their goal is to maintain peace throughout the world and they need people like Lola Phillips to do so. Unfortunately, being a teenaged girl comes with the same problems no matter where you are—even miles underground. Enter infuriatingly handsome and haughty Retro, a fellow agent whose main mission seems like it may be to make Lola fall madly in love with him. It’s up to Lola to stay grounded enough to do what she came to do. But finding her parents won’t be as easy as she’s expecting, especially when there’s another organization who would do anything, including murder, to stop her.

I had never heard of this author before until I seen her book posted in Goodreads giveaways. It sounded pretty interesting so I entered and to my surprise I won! I began reading and It became so much more than just a YA Romantic Suspense with a little Paranormal twist in it. It was a completely captivating fantastic read!!

We see Lola Phillips as a young girl of 8 with her parents. She is spoiled rotten and loved to bits by her mom and dad. When Lola's parents kiss her and put her to bed telling her they will see her in the morning she goes to sleep happy and safe. She didn't know the next morning her life was going to change forever. Her parents disappear without a trace. When the food runs out and the utilities shut off Lola manages to find her way to her Aunts house, where lives until she is 16, then runs away to live as a vagrant in LA's Skid Row. Barely surviving, barely making it without resorting to what others have had to give into, she has become strong and independent. While out trying to earn money in some way she runs into a man dressed in an all white suit who knows her name... and sends her messages eluding that he knows something about her parents. How can she resist meeting him?

Lola Phillips, What are you willing to do to get your parents back?

Lola Phillips enters a new world of espionage and covert missions. Everything is different and strange. She meets new friends, something she hasn't had in so many years, and she feels safe for the first time since her parents disappeared. She is determined to find her parents and bring them home and this is the first real lead she has had since she ran back to LA. Lola officially becomes an agent of  H Corporation and to her disgust has to change her name to Harlot Rue. She rooms with Lollie a bubbly girl she can't help but like and is fighting a crush on Lollie's brother Retro who enjoys making her insane, but he has his own secrets

Things fall apart and she has to make it right, and to do so she has to break all rules, and maybe never return home.

This book was so action packed! I want tell you every detail but I don't want to ruin it. It was simply brilliant!! I haven't read anything like this in YA and I think the story will only get better. The book has several twists to keep you reading. The characters are so real and you fall in love with them. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, CORRUPTED!! I NEED to know what happens next!

Brittany Hawes fell in love with writing at a young age, when she first discovered that she could make people laugh with words. She has been writing as a hobby for years. Twisted is the first book she has finished. Her inspiration? Family. When the question, "What would you do for someone you love?" popped into her head, ideas started to bloom. Eventually, Harlot Rue and her journey to find her missing parents were born.

Although her first book is geared towards young adults, she also enjoys writing children and adult stories. Her favorite genre is fiction, mainly because she loves using her imagination. She became interested in secret agents after years of playing James Bond video games with her siblings as children. When she's not writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, dancing (poorly) with music videos, and singing.

Her future plans include finding a career in writing, traveling the world (starting with Los Angeles), and getting her own dog. She currently resides with her family in Florida and attends Chipola College, where she majors in Communications. She is this close to receiving her AA degree from Chipola College. She plans on transferring to a university in the next year, where she will begin working towards earning a Bachelor's degree.

Her debut novel, Twisted, is the first book in the Twisted series and is published by Deep Sea Publishing. The next installment in the series is in the works and will be completed soon! To keep updated on it's progress and be the first to know when it's released, check out the fan page!

ALPHA by Jasinda Wilder

Goodreads

Trailer

This book trailer is steaming hot and should not be watched by viewers under age of 18!!

If the book trailer didn't make you want to read ( how could it now?!) maybe the book description will!!

Book Description

The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom's hospital bills. My baby brother's tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.," and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing…except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it?

I did.

The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: "belong."

A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. "To me."

The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom's hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you're desperate? You don't. I didn't.

And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: "It's time to pay your debt."

Would you have gotten in?

I did.

It turns out $120,000 doesn't come free.

I just finished ALPHA by Jasinda Wilder and OMW!! I may not recover! You think you know what your getting when you decide to pick up this book, but you get more than you bargained for.

We meet Kyrie who is having one of the worst days ever. She loses her job, gets sexually propositioned by her ex-boss, bills are due and piling up, and she gets home to an eviction notice. When she sees an innocent envelope with her name on it she opens it to find a check for ten thousand dollars and in the memo line one word: YOU. Kyrie is shocked and scared as to what to do with this anonymous check.. and come on, no matter what we say if we get that kind of cash in the mail we would be freaked too! After conferring with her best bud Layla she cashes it. Then she cashes the next check for another 10 thousand when it comes the next month with BELONG written on the memo line, And the next months check with TO ME written in the memo line.YOU BELONG TO ME, in real life that would scare the hell out of me but in THIS book it is hot especially after meeting HIM and knowing what is store for her. For the next year she cashes these anonymous checks knowing that some day she will have to pay her benefactor back in some way. 120,000 dollars later it is time and she is collected.

Her benefactor is mysterious, uber private, and quite a bit paranoid. He is distrusting of everyone, but he wants Kyrie and has done for a very long time. He brings her to his home in New York, brings her into his world, and slowly lets her slip into his personal life. He is perfection, a giant god of a man, and he wants to make Kyrie beg for him. These scenes are panty scorchers!! He pushes her to the edge of her endurance and his own.

With only the sound of his voice to go by she is utterly enthralled, when she sees the whole package she nearly combusts. He makes her crazy with desire and when he touches her she goes up in flames. He has never been with anyone who affects him the way she does and he has never let anyone into his life like he has Kyrie, she has always been special. One look and he is hard as granite, one touch and he could lose his control. Only Kyrie can do this, she will always belong to him.

But his secret must come out

What happens when the perfect man finds his perfect woman and he must come clean about his past knowing he will most likely lose her?

This book was just SO good!! It was erotic yes (honestly it was hot enough I wanted to call the fire dept. to cool me down!), but the hard decisions and the emotional turmoil was the perfect balance. No woman could help read this and wish for a man like this of their own! I say again I am ruined! I don't know if there will be a second book to this or not but if there is I will be buying it!

Excerpt
Instead of heading back to the house she went to the beach. She’d spent a lot of time wishing to walk on it again; it held so many happy memories for her. As she walked along the shore, she watched the sun setting in the distance. She thought back to the night she had discovered she had to leave. The memory was painful and she felt a tear slip down her cheek. No one could have imagined what would happen to her when she left, and no one could have stopped it. Not really. Feeling in need of that drink, she turned in the direction of home. That’s when she saw him. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as the tall, dark-haired man walk towards her.
Max had seen Susan a few times over the weekend, and he had desperately wanted to go over and say something to her, but he hadn’t known what to say. When she’d walked past the garage earlier, he almost plucked up enough courage, but something had stopped him. She looked amazing, way out of his league, but he plucked up the courage now there really was no way of avoiding her.
“Hello!” he said, smiling awkwardly, and stuffing his hands deep into his pockets.

Author Bio
I've always had a passion for reading but over the last several years it has become an obsession, a few months ago I decided to put fingers to keys to keyboard (or pen to paper!) and write "Something Missing" a story I’ve had hidden away in the back of my mind for a long time.

Hazel lives in the small town of Rishton in Lancashire. England, with her husband, three children, two cats, dog, rabbit and lizard. She fills her days dashing between school runs, pets and housework and at night she comes to life either writing or watching her favorite program ‘Supernatural’ (yes she is Supernatural obsessed)
Her road to writing started with a love for paranormal romance novels, and after finding a passion for tragic romance she set out on the mission to share her own story. After long nights writing and a lot of ‘Supernatural’ episodes she is finally ready to share ‘Something Missing’. Hazel loves nothing better than sitting with a cup of tea, a chocolate biscuit and a good book.
