Garrett Leigh's Misfits ≺Review≻

Synopsis
Restaurant owner Tom Fearnes has loved his partner Cass for as long as he can remember, but their work often keeps them apart. When he meets a striking young man named Jake on the vibrant streets of Camden Town, their heady first encounter takes an unexpected turn.

Jake Thompson can hardly believe his luck when he wakes up in Tom’s bed. Tom is gorgeous, kind, and . . . taken. Tom’s explanation of his open relationship leaves Jake cold, but Tom is too tempting, and when hard times force Jake to accept Tom’s helping hand, he finds himself between two men who’ve lost their way.

Cass Pearson is a troubled soul. He loves Tom with all he has, but some days it feels like he hasn’t much to give. Jake seems like the perfect solution. Cass risks everything to push Jake and Tom together, but Jake resists, wary, until the darkness of Cass’s past comes to call. Then Jake finds himself the last man standing, and it’s time to dig deep and shine a light for the men he’s grown to love.

Misfits was an amazing unique book featuring three men from three different walks of life, three personalities, three different skills who fit together like coffee and cream...Perfect! The book takes place in the UK so has quite a bit of British slang, so if you aren't up on your Englishman colloquialisms be sure to have Google handy! Another quite unique to this book is one of the characters has Tourettes. I have NEVER read a romance where one of the main characters had this syndrome. The author explained how much research and shadowing he did to get this right. And I have to say he did an excellent job. It was also quite humorous in a few places as well as very steamy. It was just an all around great read.

Tom and Cass have been in a committed relationship for years. What they have works for them. People don't understand what they have and they can live with it. They have an open relationships where they take other lovers, but they have full disclosure. Nothing is kept secret from the other. So when Tom meets Jake and is completely smitten. Jake's TS (tourettes) doesn't even phase him and for Jake Tom is amazing. One night together and Tom wants more unfortunately Cass comes home before Tom can tell Jake about him. Jake assumes Tom cheated on his boyfriend with him and runs out. It takes a long time before Cass convinces Tom to hunt down Jake and even long for Tom to convince Jake to give him the time of day. Tom finally gives Jake a job and things get interesting.

When the pieces finally start to fall into place it is like magic. This was one of the most enjoyable books I have read. The characters were developed and well rounded. They were fun and made me have an emotional investment in their lives. The writing was simply fantastic. Great descriptions of environments, emotions, TS, jobs, everything. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a fantastic romance. This just blew me away.

Meet the author
Garrett Leigh is a British writer and book designer, currently working for Dreamspinner Press, Loose Id, Riptide Publishing, and Black Jazz Press. Her protagonists will always always be tortured, crippled, broken, and deeply flawed. Throw in a tale of enduring true love, some stubbly facial hair, and a bunch of tattoos, and you’ve got yourself a Garrett special.

When not writing, Garrett can generally be found procrastinating on Twitter, cooking up a storm, or sitting on her behind doing as little as possible. That, and dreaming up new ways to torture her characters. Garrett believes in happy endings; she just likes to make her boys work for it.

Garrett also works as a freelance cover artist for various publishing houses and independent authors. For cover art info, please visit blackjazzdesign.com
