Morgan has worked hard to build a home for himself after a nomadic childhood. When Morgan is called to a fire, he finds the family out front, but their tenant still inside. He rescues Richard Smalley, who turns out to be an old friend he hasn't seen in years and the one person he regretted leaving behind.
Richard has had a hard life. He served in the military where he lost the use of his legs and has been struggling to make his way since coming home. Now that he no longer has a place to live, Morgan takes him in, but when someone attempts to set fire to Morgan’s house, they both become suspicious and wonder what's going on.
Years ago Morgan was gutted when Richard moved away, so he’s happy to pick things up where they left off, but now that Richard seems to be the target of an arsonist, he may not be the safest person to be around.
Rekindled Flame is the first book in this spin off from one of my favorite series. These two characters Richard and Morgan immediately grip a reader. Richard because he is the hero and Morgan because he is the broken warrior.
This book was in a word beautiful. These two men were best friends as children. They never forgot each other as adults because of the impact they made on each others lives growing up. When Richard visits his latest save in the hospital and realize who it is it is shock then instant heat. This author always seems to write a book that catches my heart as well as my imagination. He puts a cast of characters and a plot together so well I get lost in the book and don't realize the time passing. I hated putting down this one. It was a fantastic read. I highly recommend it to any who love an amazing love story between two strong men.
If Morgan and Richard had basic theme songs what would they be and why? Would they have a different songs for romance, anger, excitement/adrenaline, and relaxing?
When I think of this question, I think of sound tracks from movies. Morgan’s theme song would be something intense and full of energy. I know you’re all going to laugh, but I like the Indiana Jones music for him. He’s always charging in to help and rescuing people. While he doesn’t keep losing his hat or anything, Morgan is like the knight in armor. Maybe it’s a little tarnished, but he’s definitely a hero.
For Richard, I see him as more of the wounded warrior. Think of the theme music from Born on the Fourth of July. Richard is damaged and doesn’t see himself as a whole person any longer because he’s in the chair. But I think that makes Richard even more interesting and his music will have those dulcet undertones of richness that hint at peace, but never quite get there.
As for a romantic theme song, I think Love Changes Everything is perfect. For both these men, it’s love that changes, molds, and makes them into the people that they truly want to be.
