Belong To You by Vi Keeland

**Also part of an anthology with 5 other amazing authors for .99 cents**
Tempting Fate

Book Description

My honeymoon was almost everything I dreamed it would be, a tropical paradise, turquoise water, romantic walks on the beach, and loads and loads of mind shattering sex. The only thing missing was the groom.

After seven years of coasting through a relationship with Michael, my senses were numb. A week of passion with a stranger was just what I needed to clear my head and take back control of my life. But how do you move on when the man that was only supposed to be a fling somehow seeps into your soul and steals your heart?

Jack Cole Heston is a seriously panty melting hot man who has some major alpha tendencies... though you wont hear this girl complaining! He made Sydney's heart race from the first moment they met and it never stopped.

When Sydney breaks it off with her fiance for cheating she decides to take her honeymoon with her best bud Sienna. They fly to Hawaii and have the best time and maybe Sydney can remember who she was before she met Michael and he started changing her. She meets Jack who has a profound effect on her underwear from the very beginning. Sienna tells her to have a hot honeymoon rebound fling to get back into the swing of things.

Jack who has a so many secrets is completely on board with the rebound fling, until he has Sydney in his bed. Things get serious for the man who never had a girlfriend.

Wait until you read this book in all its steaming glory! You wont be able to put it down! They have a journey that is unconventional and the trip isn't over. I am seriously looking forward to book #2.

Aunt Phil's Trunk by Laurel Bill & Phyllis Downing Carlson

Book Description

Volume 1 kicks off the series by showcasing the arrival of Alaska Natives thousands of years ago. Anthropologists theorize the Natives traveled from Asia across the Bering Sea Land Bridge and settled in various parts of Alaska. Stories in this section include mighty shaman, mysterious petroglyphs and fierce battles against Russian fur traders, who arrived in the mid-1700s.

After Alaska became a possession of the United States in 1867, Americans began streaming into the Last Frontier. Explorers, businessmen, miners and crooks came north and changed Alaska forever. The discovery of gold brought even more people.

I have never enjoyed reading history so much! This first volume had so many stories in it that I have never even heard of that I had such a great time reading. I even reread a few of them to my young daughters. Anyone who enjoys learning about our history, about the past, or just other cultures will LOVE this series! This first volume draws you in with the mysterious missing Eskimo people, makes you think of the Aztec right?, and continues to tell tales of the spiritualism that was just fantastic. I have to say the story of Sha-E-Dah Kla is my favorite, be sure to check it out. Spiritualistic and Shamanistic healing stories were just amazing, and just not something you read about unless it is a paranormal fiction. So to read about them as first hand experiences that happened to real people was enthralling for me. The stories continue and draw you into the Alaskan history telling of the wars and goldrush. Things you had never read before or never heard so much about, and as if the stories weren't enough she has these amazing pictures to bring out what she is telling you. I believe even if you aren't a history buff you would be able to enjoy this book. It reads more like a story book rather than a history book or school book. It is engaging and so full of information, it just isn't work to read. I can't wait to find out what is in volume 2!

Author Laurel Bill

Born in Fairbanks in 1951, I grew up with four siblings and learned the art of negotiation at a young age! My father, a civil engineer, took the family on a tour of the world through the jobs he accepted - including stints in Cameroon and Liberia, West Africa, Tanzania, East Africa, and Bandung, Indonesia.
I graduated from Baleares International High School in Mallorca, Spain, in 1969, attended a year of college at the American College of Switzerland in Leysin, and then returned to Alaska to carry on my life as an adult ... after all, I was 19 and knew everything, right?
Fast forward 30 years, a wonderful husband, three terrific children and an awesome life in the remote Alaska village of King Salmon to a much-anticipated life of leisure enjoying retirement in a condo in Anchorage.
Or so I thought. The reality was that my Alaska historian aunt, Phyllis Downing Carlson, left behind countless newspaper clips, research and rare Alaska history books when she died in 1993. My sister handed them off to me.
As I sifted through her work and saw the many national awards she had received for her articles about Alaska's colorful past, I knew I had to bring the stories to light for the world.
I returned to college to get the tools needed for the big project ahead and graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2003 with honors and a degree in journalism, a minor in history.
The series was born in July 2002 as a weekly newspaper column in The Anchorage Chronicle. The short stories soon became one of the most popular features in the paper. They continue to be printed today in the monthly newspaper, The Senior Voice.
After receiving such an enthusiastic response to tales of Alaska's days gone by, I turned my attention to developing the state's history from thousands of years ago - when the Native people first arrived in the country - up to the present.
Then I searched through the archives of museums, libraries and universities around the country to find historical photographs to help tell the stories. I found so many photographs and wonderful stories that my plan for one book has turned into several volumes. And my desire to share Alaska's history has turned into a passion.

Blood Slaves by N.L. Hoffmann

Book Description

In the vampire world the Covert has been around for hundreds of years. They take girls off the streets and then sell them to vampires who are looking to “collect” women for unpleasant purposes. It is a nasty business, but vampires see humans as objects. Buying one from the Covert is like adding another car to your collection. It wasn’t uncommon to hear another girl go missing off the streets, but when girls from well-known families begin to disappear, the Supernatural Crime Division begins to take notice.

Blake Noble is assigned, by her superior, to investigate the disappearance of his niece and to take down the Covert. Blake, being the daughter of Lucifer and a famous vampire mother, uses her abilities to survive through the investigation. Between demon lessons from her father and falling for the Deputy Director, she tries to find a way to take down a several hundred year old business. Only she soon realizes people she trusted are involved.

Book Review

After reading this I couldn’t believe it was her first book! I couldn’t put it down… I needed to find out what was happening and this book kept me guessing throughout its pages. N.L. Hoffmann has an amazing talent that kept me enthralled and I can’t wait for her second book!

The book opens up with Blake Noble in the middle of a vision. She is trying to figure out who took Carter, her superior at the SDC’s, niece. He is also the man who raised her after her mother abandoned her and her father wasn’t anywhere around. During her vision she discovers that the Covert had taken his niece. The Covert were basically rogues who were organized by someone who chose to deal with them. The Covert would steal girls normally from the street so they wouldn’t be missed but lately they have been taking high society girls, girls that would cause a problem for the vampires were the Covert to become known to the humans around them.

Carter sends Blake to investigate Nick Black one of the Directors since evidence seems to point to him. For her to do that she has to become part of his Guard. Blake herself is a kick ass vampire/ demon hybrid, so she shouldn’t have a problem getting in right? When Blake attends a dinner where she is supposed to save Nick so she can impress him enough to be put on his guard everything goes to hell. First, when his second in command Eli demands to know why she is there because he isn’t buying her excuse and secondly while she is being politely interrogated on the dance floor by hot Eli rogues crash the party and attack Nick. Though this wasn’t the set up planned by Carter, Blake takes advantage of it and does her badass thing and takes care of business. Nick doesn’t offer her a job until Eli suggests it would be a good to have Lucifer’s daughter on their side.

Eli has quite a few secrets and has kept them for many years. When he meets Blake he immediately wants her. He works with Blake to find out who is framing Nick and investigating a dead body. Blake is trying to resist Eli while Eli does his best to make her give in.

N.L. Hoffmann has quite a few interesting characters in this story you just don’t want to miss them. Michael, Nick, his brother, and Lucifer, those are just a few I could name!  This book has so many twists and turns you just have to love it! I am looking forward to the next book in this series!!

Book 1 - Tainted Bodies
Book 2 - Tainted Pictures

Kate just nodded slowly and picked up her phone.  She sent Derrick a text message, not saying anything specific except that she needed him there now.  She just didn’t know what else to tell him over text message and she wasn’t sure she could put a string of words together to talk over the phone.  The joy she had felt all day had come to a crashing halt and everything had taken two steps backwards.
Plus the truth was that she did need him.  She needed him right this moment, his arms wrapped around her to hold her up, his breath against her neck reminding her that she was alive, his eyes piercing through her in a way that always made her brain completely shut down.  She needed to shut down in that way that only he was capable of bringing out in her.  She wanted him to be there right now and her anxiety began to raise as she realized how badly every second without him felt to her.
Detective Snow was on her phone calling her partner and forensic techs to come sweep the apartment.  Kate went to her bedroom to put on a sweatshirt and some socks, since she was only wearing a tank top and pajama bottoms at that point.  She then went back to the kitchen where Detective Snow was writing in a notepad.  She sat down next to her and began sipping the tea that had been made for her, but she wasn’t even tasting it.
Finally there was a knock at the door and Kate jumped up out of her chair.  She wasn’t sure how much time had gone by since she had sat down at the table, she felt quite out of it.  All she knew is that Derrick was at the door and she couldn’t handle another moment not having his broad, thick arms clenched around her shoulders and pressing her tightly against his chest.  She rushed to the door, flying right past Detective Snow, and swung open the front door.
“Good evening, Kate.”  It was Detective McCraig with several crime scene technicians behind him wearing matching windbreakers and carrying cases and boxes of supplies.  Kate felt her entire face fall and practically hit the floor, she couldn’t possibly have looked more disappointed to see him.  McCraig wrinkled his eyebrows at her furtively, wondering why she looked so startled to see him.
She didn’t say hello back but instead just stepped to the side and motioned everyone into her apartment.  She grabbed her jacket hanging near the door and pulled it on and stepped into some tennis shoes, getting ready to leave.  She didn’t want to be here while they were making her apartment look like a crime scene again.  She just stood there, dejectedly, and waited for the last person to walk in the door so that she could leave.
“Kate?”  Someone called her and she looked up to see the last crime scene technician walk past her, but behind him was a friendly face.  Derrick stood in the doorway, almost blocking the entire entrance with his large, muscular frame.
“You beckoned, beautiful?”  He grinned at her, knowing that she needed a hint of normalcy right now.  Kate burst into a smile and rushed to him, throwing her arms around his neck and burying her face into his smooth, soft skin.  He caught her with his arms around her waist and on her back, her feet dangling off the ground as he supported her.
“Take me away from here.” Kate whispered to him.
“You’re with me now and everything else doesn’t matter.  Just you and me.  This is all that matters.  Let’s forget about everything else for tonight?” Derrick touched her chin, gently pulling her to face him.  She nodded in agreement, eager to have him take over and just care for her.  She was too worn out to keep pretending everything was fine.  Everything was not fine. There was a psychotic killer hunting her.  That’s really the very definition of not fine.
Seeing Derrick here pushed all of those thoughts away.  The way he expanded to take over the room and envelope her in his arms was mesmerizing.  She glanced up at him, her arms still wrapped around his waist and he head leaning against his shoulder.  His lips were only inches from hers.  Her eyes were searching his, looking for any signs of doubt, any signs that he might betray her again.  She wanted to push that fear away, she couldn’t keep holding onto this much fear.  She loved Derrick and she knew he wasn’t the same man he had been before.
“And I’m never going to leave you again.” He whispered, reading the fear in her gaze and stifling it immediately.  He wished he had never made the mistake to abandon her in her time of need and he knew he would happily spend every day for the rest of his life reassuring her that he would never be that man again.
The corners of her mouth lifted into a smile and she looked down at his lips and then back up at his deep, gentle eyes.  He wasn’t going to deny her another moment and so he leaned down and kissed her gently.  He squeezed her tighter against him as he did and then he smiled at her in the midst of their kiss and lowered her back down so her feet were on the ground.  With one quick motion, he reached down and one of his arms swept up behind her knees lifting her straight up into his arms.  She squeaked in surprise but didn’t try to fight him.
“Let’s go home.”  Derrick said to her, as he carried her down the hallway and she curled up in his large arms.

Dark Innocence by Madeline Pryce

Book Description

Hannah Grey will do anything to escape the tortured memories haunting her. Every breath brings back the pain, the fear and the unbearable knowledge that she'll never be the once-perfect girl everyone thought her to be. When the self-destructive fog of drugs, alcohol and meaningless sex starts to clear, Dante, a lion shifter sexier than sin itself, emerges through the darkness ready to rescue her for the second time in so many weeks.

In the safety of Dante's embrace, Hannah allows herself to become the woman she's always wanted to be--smart, sexy, capable and empowered. His every touch electrifies. His hot, hungry kisses set her senses ablaze. As Dante masters her body, Hannah finally finds the strength to master her fears.

Perfection shatters as threats from a mysterious vampire escalate from anonymous phone calls to violent encounters. When Hannah's enemies unite, placing both her and Dante in mortal peril, she's going to need her newfound strength to face the coming darkness and save the man she loves.

My Review

Dark Innocence opens up with an eye opening chapter that brings you into Hannah’s frame of mind. You quickly remember why she tries to forget and understand the want and the need to be numb, though with her eidetic memory every painful moment of her kidnapping is forever etched in her brain, forgetting isn’t an option. It is so well done and she puts the reader in Hannah’s head so much so that you feel squidgy when reading her self-abuse moment… you hate to see someone hurting and she writes so well you SEE it, feel it!! Hannah calls Dante to pick her up after another failed attempt to forget and this time it was a changing point for them both.

Hannah Grey of course is the sister of the new bad ass Queen of the vampires and she is feeling pretty useless and weak when she looks around at all the strong in body and mind people around her.  After Dante’s rescue and his telling her she is done abusing herself this way she straightens herself up. When a few days of being sober passes she and she sick of what she had done to herself. She is irrevocably changed after her kidnapping and wants to be seen as strong and capable, but she also sees something else she wants… she wants Dante.

Dante beats himself up for not being able to save Hannah those weeks ago. He picks her up when she needs a ride or listens when she needs to talk. He has become her friend and protector. He wants Hannah but he doesn’t want to be used to forget like the others. If they get together it will his way, on his terms.

Dark Innocence has so many hot moments and heart pounding scenes. Throw in a stalker that wants to lay claim to Hannah and Eli who doesn’t know what he wants and this book will keep your eyes glued to every word. If your able to put it down you are a stronger person that I. It kept my chest constricted with so many emotions from the very first paragraph that I was barely able to breathe until the very last sentence!!

The Author

Madeline Pryce wrote her first novel when she was ten, penned with neon-pink ink in a loose-leaf binder. Captivated by romantic literature, yet intrigued by the paranormal, she continues to develop her own voice, writing the kinds of stories that inspired her as a teen.

Objective by K. Larsen

 OBJECTIVE (Bloodlines #2)

My story started out cliche, good girl falls for bad boy, but one wrong move changed all that. Turns out the good girl doesn’t save the bad boy. My story goes from cliche to risque to mind blowing. My story is different from all the others because the events of my story led me to one objective.

Remembering him comes in dreams and flashbacks that I can't control. I tell myself it’s time to let go...but moving on from him is impossible when I still see our lives in my head.

When you kill your soul mate you don’t ever really recover.
A year of trying to forget or rather move past it has taught me that you can't. Its an impossibility to move on from that kind of horrific form of betrayal. If you you’re too selfish or scared for suicide, like me, you learn to wake up every morning and follow routine. One foot in front of the other, day after day.

Hollow. Lifeless. Haunted. Loving him was like the sun on a summer day. Living without him is like slowly burning to death. Torture.

A Bloodlines Novel.
*Note Tug of War is the 1st in the Bloodlines books, each book can be read as a stand alone book.*

Objective took me for a ride! K. Larsen has managed to keep me on my toes and my mind wondering until the end of the book! And WHAT an ENDING!!! OMGOSH!!! I silently squeal in my head every time I think about it! But I’m getting ahead of myself (squeal!!!). Objective is part 2 of K. Larsen’s Bloodline Series, but the fantastic part is even if you haven’t read part one, Tug of War, you will not have a problem reading this book! It is a stand-alone novel you can enjoy all by its wonderful self. BUT I highly recommend you reading Tug of War JUST so you can find out about the tattoo parlor that Magnolia will be visiting here in Objective.

Magnolia is a beautiful, sweet, never do anything wrong woman, until THAT day. THAT day haunts her, changes her, makes her into who she is now and puts her on the run from Ezra, the uncle of the man she loved with all her heart and soul…before she shot him.

Now she is hard, cold, almost lifeless and tattooed with a magnolia tree to keep her soul mate with her always. She knows she will be found, she trains for it and works hard to become strong enough to face Ezra. She lives only to make him pay. She doesn't date and she doesn't make friends… she only trains. She is anti-social to the extreme, a total bitch to anyone who tries to get close (smirk Bentley), and she does NOT like you invading her personal space.

Bentley is her neighbor and who in one word is HOTT!! He won’t take no for an answer and completely ignores Magnolia’s innate bitchiness. He forces a friendship on Magnolia by constantly showing up begging for drinks or coffee, insinuating himself into her life. After a year of his deliberately forcing his company on her, she has relented allowed him into her life just a little.

Then the day comes when Magnolia has been found and her world crashes around her again. She has to deal with demons from her past and new hurts from discoveries she has just made. This point on it will take you for a ride and tailspin out of control until the end.

You think this book is going to leave you feeling broken hearted and crushed, then the end comes and you just want to wet yourself in excitement!!! OMGOSH!! Silent Squeal!!! This is a definite MUST read. Put down whatever you’re reading, unless it is Tug of War, buy this book and start reading!!! I give this a HUGE yes when someone asks me if it is good… it is fan-freakin-tastic!!

TUG OF WAR (Bloodlines #1)

Impulsive, YES. Irresponsible, SURE. Necessary, PROBABLY. Going to end badly, most likely. Does any of that matter to me, no. I decided that I can't please everyone so this week my only goal is to please me. I’m a selfish cow but I can’t seem to help it. I’m Clara Lord. I own Bloodline’s Tattoo Parlor, have a filthy mouth, no filter and a really strong objection to bossy idiots, pet names and wealthy men.

 RESISTANCE (Bloodlines #3)
(Sawyer's Story, Releasing Late 2014)

My name is Sawyer Crown, I own Bloodlines Tattoo Parlor, despise drama, and have a penchant for broken women. It's a habit I intend to kick.

The arrangement had been simple. Clara and I sleep together if and when we wanted too. We were always best friends first. We raised Allie together with love. Four years into it did people assume we were married- yes. Did people assume I was Allie's father- sure. Did I love every second of that- most definitely.

Then my world exploded. Clara left me. Moved on. I'm supposed to too. I just haven’t figured the moving on part out quite yet. The heart wants what it wants right? Or maybe the mind want what it wants for the heart. All of those scenarios are bullshit though. Clara went for the gold. She carved out the happiness she needed, wanted.

Now it’s my turn.

I feel like I’m crawling in my skin. I’ve had this feeling for the last sixteen months just about. Time has done little thus far to mend me. People keep promising time heals all wounds. Bullshit. I call bullshit. Love is a four-letter-word.

Love is blindness. I didn’t want to see. I don’t want to see. I chose to ignore all the signs. I was in denial. I pretended that Clara and I were more than we were. I knew it was wrong. I buried that feeling deep though. Flat out refused to let it bubble to the surface where I’d have to deal with it.  I’d tear out my insides if I could go back and change it.

I didn’t give her room to breathe. I never gave her the chance to come to me, to want me. I gave her what I wanted to give and convinced myself that it was exactly what we both wanted and needed.

Our arrangement had been simple. We slept together if and when we wanted too. We were always best friends first and we were to raise Allie together with love. Four years into it did people assume we were married- yes. Did people assume I was Allies father- sure. Did I love every second of that- most definitely.

The problem is, real women don’t need you, they want you. Clara always needed me. I knew that. I liked it, hell I loved it. I thought it would be enough to keep her attached to me. It wasn’t. She put my heart in a blender and watched it spin around until it was a pureed mess. I’d love to blame her entirely, but when shit hit the fan and she told me she never asked for my love outside of our arrangement, she was right. She never did.

She was upfront, honest, clear with me from the start. I tried to change that subtly over time. To embed myself into her life so wholly that eventually she would want to submit to me entirely. My game got sloppy, I grew complacent. I used my dating life to try and piss her off and make her jealous. Sometimes depending on the woman, it worked. Mostly she held up her end of our deal and knew that we’d agreed to be able to date, therefore never bringing it up.

My weakness was that I let myself care too much. It was all a well played game between the two of us. A balancing act with no safety net. Games that never amounted to more than they were meant to, eventually played themselves out.

Clara is many things, but she’s not an asshole, contrary to what most think. She’s a straight shooter. Calls it like she sees it, a take action kinda gal. She loves fiercely and wholly. Even when she’s not in love with you. If she loves you, you get all of her for better or worse.
All things I love about her.

Clara makes mistakes and people view her actions as self-centered, but they don’t understand how she works. She’s not a selfish woman. She’s bold. Takes no prisoners. Driven. She gives back in so many ways.

People look at her and judge, they don’t see or maybe they choose to overlook all the things she does from the heart. Her friends, family and their and her personal well-being come first. Her two jobs follow next. She’s committed, blunt to a fault and owns her faults. It’s refreshing really. Her past was so much worse than even I knew, and I knew most of it, but when the parts I didn’t know came out- so much came to light, for me at least.   But by then, it was too late for us. There was a gap so wide between us there was no bridging it.

She loves Allie fiercely. She’s wonderful mom. I admire that about her. Sure she’s made mistakes- we both have, but she’s never claimed she hasn't.  When the school told her the chorus program was being cut, she volunteered to continue teaching the kids for free. Bloodlines thrives as a business because she puts her heart and soul into it. Even from a distance she's loyal to Marg and Amanda, staying in touch, talking often, putting in the effort to make sure they all stay connected. She’s thoughtful and kind and funny.

Dominic swooped in and threw us all off balance. I can’t say that had the situation been reversed I would have handled it any differently than she did. It was confusing. Where did we draw the line? How do you give up someone that's been an intimate part of your life without giving them up completely? How do you tell what’s right and wrong? How do we maintain our family still for Allie? When you never talk about the hard stuff together, how can you expect the other to just know what’s in your head? Bottom line, you can’t. It was a cluster fuck to say the least. We’ve found some semblance of peace. We’re just rearranged now. I’m supposed to accept that and move on. Supposed being the key word.

I just haven’t figured the moving on part out quite yet. The heart wants what it wants right? Or maybe the mind want what it wants for the heart. All of those scenarios are bullshit though. Clara went for the gold. She carved out the happiness she needed, wanted.

Now it’s my turn.

TARGET 84 (Bloodlines #4)
(Bentley's Story, Releasing Early 2015)

My first kill was at sixteen. One might think that’s young but I'd been trained for two years before I was allowed to execute a human target on my own. I won’t ever forget him. Jackson Manning was testifying in a human trafficking case and someone didn’t want him to be heard. I'd been sloppy and careless, but excited and if I'm honest, a little turned on too. I’d found myself rather curious staring at his unmoving body. I’d been scolded for my carelessness but it didn’t matter. I’d had a taste of the real thing and I thirsted for more. My desire, my obsession took on a new form that day. It wasn’t a goal I was working towards anymore, it was tangible now.

It is my life.
I am an assassin. I don't know my targets or why they're targeted. I am commissioned to kill without question and I am paid grandly for the service I provide. I get a text with a name and an address. I watch them. I wait. I become who I need to be. I seduce them if necessary to get close enough to execute.

I love my job, or loved my job. Everything changed when I was assigned: ATF Agent Bentley James, last known location Christiansburg, VA.
